Hedgehog Key Hook

10% of the proceeds of our Hedgehog designs will be donated to The British Hedgehog Society (BHPS), a registered UK Charity (number 1164542) dedicated to helping & protecting hedgehogs native to the UK.

The common hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus), also known as the European hedgehog, is a hedgehog species found in Europe, from Iberia and Italy northwards into Scandinavia.  It is a well-known animal, and a favorite in the garden, both for its endearing appearance and its preference for eating a range of garden pests. The British Hedgehog Preservation Society and the People’s Trust for Endangered Species report  that urban populations of hedgehogs have fallen by up to 30% and rural populations by at least 50% since the turn of the century. In Britain, the main predator is the badger. As with most small mammals living around humans, cars pose a great threat to hedgehogs. Many are run over as they attempt to cross roads.

The name hedgehog came into use around the year 1450, derived from the Middle English heyghoge, from heyg, hegge ("hedge"), because it frequents hedgerows, and hoge, hogge ("hog"), from its piglike snout. Other names include urchin, hedgepig and furze-pig.

Part of a range of different key hook designs. Each comes with two holes for fixings to a wall. Screws not supplied.

All dimensions approximate. Illustrations for guidance on main design only. Actual hooks vary in length when bent by hand. Please also note that sometimes the design goes from left to right and vice versa - as we do all this in our studio and we like mixing it up!

Hedgehog = 148 x 99 x 0.9 mm
